Plantar fasciitis is a painful condition of the foot in which the plantar fascia – the thick band of tissue that runs under the bottom of your foot connecting the heel bone to the toes – develops micro-tears and becomes inflamed after repeated overuse. Classic plantar fasciitis occurs after wearing improper footwear for a long period, or overuse such as doing ‘too much too soon’. Plantar fasciitis may be caused by age, certain types of exercise, foot mechanics, obesity, and professions in which you are on your feet all day.
If you don’t seek treatment for plantar fasciitis, you may experience chronic pain in the heel that can become so severe you cannot participate in your regular activities or bear much or any weight on that leg. You may also experience further foot, knee, hip, or back pain and conditions that exacerbates your injury.
Plantar Fasciitis is best treated using a combination of soft tissue release and Graston technique. Our team will assess and treat your plantar fasciitis by correcting your movements when you stand, walk, and perform other activities. Manual therapy such as chiropractic care and massage will not only relieve symptoms but address the root of the problem to deliver lasting relief.
